About Us

Pings Distributors Ltd, widely recognized as Ping’s Fabrics, was founded on a shared vision by brothers-in-law Lorenzo Pearson and David Ingledew. Their dream was to nurture Jamaican creativity by providing distinctive and unique fabrics to the local market.

With a deep passion and limited savings, they took the bold step of opening their first store in October 1990, operating from a small 300-square-foot shop on Wellington Street, Spanish Town. At the time, the company consisted of just two employees—the founders themselves.

The company’s name, Ping’s, was inspired by a fusion of their surnames: Pearson (P) and Ingledew (Ing). Determined to make their dream a reality, the duo frequently traveled abroad in search of exclusive fabric selections, often bringing back carefully curated pieces in their hand luggage to meet the growing demands of their customers.

Lorenzo, affectionately known as Chippy, discovered his passion for fashion and fabrics early on after being introduced to the industry by an associate. Driven by this passion, he sought to fuel Jamaican creativity by offering unique fabrics at affordable prices

After just three years of strong customer interest and support for the first Ping’s Fabrics location, Chippy and David took a bold step forward, opening a second branch in Half-Way Tree, Kingston. This store became the flagship location, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s growth and future direction.

The third branch of Ping’s Fabrics was opened in Downtown Kingston in 1999. Over the following years, the company continued to expand, adding seven more locations:

• Ocho Rios – August 2017

This steady growth reflects our commitment to making high-quality fabrics and household items more accessible across Jamaica.

Today, Ping’s Fabrics operates ten locations across Jamaica, covering approximately 78,000 square feet of retail space and employing over 130 hardworking and dedicated Jamaicans.
Each location now features a well-established trimmings and accessories department, along with the rapidly expanding ready-made household section, known as Ping’s Home.
